Hey there, I’m Tyler Esselman.

I’m a performer and writer originally from the fine city of St. Louis, Missouri. I cut my teeth in Chicago after graduating from The Theatre School at DePaul University with a BFA in Acting in the summer of 2015. During my 9 years in Chicago, I made theatre in all sorts of crazy ways including work with Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Emerald City Theatre, and The Agency Theatre Collective in town and regionally with Theatreworks Colorado Springs. Under the banner of The Antidote, I collaborated on the 2015 devised piece Homo Andronicus and co-created the solo performance piece The Celebrity Guide to Mental Health and Wellness which premiered at the 2019 FringeArts Festival in Philadelphia.

What about on-camera work, you might ask? I’ve done commercials for Slim Jim, Gildan Underwear, and Jim Butler Chevrolet and sketch work with The Onion Productions. My feature film debut came in Speaking in Tongues directed by Nathan Deming, an official selection for the 2018 Austin Film Festival.

And, wouldn’t ya know it, I have a podcast too! This One Goes to 11 is a music podcast I run with my dear friend Michael Osinski where we invite our friends, family, and others on to make their case for what they believe is a perfect album. SO perfect, in fact, that ten out of ten just isn’t good enough.

So I certainly stay busy. But when I have time to myself, and I do love when that happens, I’m a great lover of the outdoors. I am a keen backpacker and long distance cycle tourist. I’ve completed bike tours from Nashville, TN to Asheville, NC, from Chicago to St. Louis, and a particularly groovy month-long odyssey from Edinburgh, Scotland all the way down to London with plenty of stops for soccer and beer along the way. I love literature and poetry in all forms from classics to comics. I never met a tree I didn’t like. I bake a mean loaf of bread and I officiate weddings because love really is all you need.

Anyway, that’s enough for now! Glad to make your acquaintance, let’s drink coffee sometime.
